Major Courses

The following is based on the 2007-08 Undergraduate Catalog. During the junior, the students select either the Standard Track or Alternative Track professional practice options. Students in either track must take the following:

  • HSC 260: Introduction to Clinical Immunohematology (3 hrs.)
  • HSC 261: Introduction to Clinical Hematology (4 hrs.)
  • HSC 262: Introduction to Clinical Chemistry (4 hrs.)
  • HSC 263: Introduction to Clinical Immunology (3 hrs.)
  • HSC 308: Introduction to Clinical Microbiology (4 hrs.)

Those in the Standard Track take:

  • HSC 301: Introduction to Coagulation and Hemostasis (2 hrs.)
  • HSC 302: Introduction to Clinical Biochemistry (3 hrs.)
  • HSC 312: Clinical Chemistry (3 hrs.)
  • HSC 315: Clinical Parasitology & Mycology (2 hrs.)
  • HSC 316: Clinical Lab Science: Research Design (1 hr.)
  • HSC 317: Clinical Hematology (2 hrs.)
  • HSC 318: Clinical Microbiology (2 hrs.)
  • HSC 319: Clinical Immunohematology (3 hrs.)
  • HSC 325: Lab Education & Management (2 hrs.)
  • HSC 398.22-29 Professional Practice in Clinical Laboratory Science (12 hrs.)

Those in the Alternative Track take:

  • HSC 331: Applied Clinical Lab Mgmt. (1-3 hrs.)
  • HSC 332: Applied Clinical Biochemistry (1-7 hrs.)
  • HSC 333: Applied Clinical Immunology (1-6 hrs.)
  • HSC 334: Applied Clinical Urinalysis (1-3 hrs.)
  • HSC 335: Applied Special Microbiology (1-6 hrs.)
