HIGHLIGHTS

March 25 at the Student Section of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Safety alum Angela Galvin gave a presentation to students on safety management with Caterpillar, Inc, as well as the job situation in safety management in general industry.

March 26 Dr. George Byrns, EH faculty, presented Respiratory Protection Against Biological Hazards at the meeting of the Prairie Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Assoc (AIHA).

March 27 two alumni, Erin Cropsey, Industrial Hygienist-Federal OSHA office in Peoria and Mica Torricelli, Acting Director of IL On-Site Safety and Health Consulation program, spoke about their transition from student to professional with a group of EH and Safety students and faculty Dr. Tom Bierma, Dr. George Byrns, Dr. Guang Jin, andMr. Paul Ronczkowski.

April 14 Mr. Paul Ronczkowski and Dr. Chris Grieshaber, Safety faculty and ten student ASSE members attended Central IL Chaper of ASSE meeting. Mr. Mark Lies, attorney specializing in occupational safety and Health law, presented "Professional Liability issues Confronting the Fields of Safety and Health and Risk Management Professionals."

American Society for Clinical Pathology recognized 9 Clinical Laboratory Science Program 2009 students who demonstrated both academic excellence and a commitment to community service with its annual National Student Honor Award: Heather Bryant, Valerie Gosack, Alyssa King, Brandy Lee, Jason Loser, Michael Plochocki, Jody Schultz, Jaclyn Schwarz, RoDina Williams.
